In 1670s in Poland the armours of "sarmatian" type, it was called "caracena". The caracena armour was a leather armour covered with metal scales. The gloves, shoulder covers and even helmets might be made in the same way. Such armours were most widesprear during the reign of King Jan III Sobieski (1674-1696), who was often called "a king-sarmatian".
